Waves L1 famous limiter (and thus W1 – for compatibility reasons) uses three times longer actual release time than standard RT60 metric. *Increasing release time 3 times (see notes below) This was accomplished without reverse engineering Waves products, and the result was obtained by adjusting 4Front YLimiter, by doing the following:

Might be of interest even though it's not. I personally use George Yohng's free W1 limiter (clone of the Waves L1) and it's always worked well for me. Free limiter like the Waves L2? If you download the trial version it works completely as the full paid version for as long as you like as it is non-timebombed.
